Akin to other releases of the Adidas Forum For Sale-variant, the newly-surfaced pair indulges in a quality and color-blocking reminiscent of inaugural styles from 37 years ago. High-quality “colorless” leather makes up the majority of the sneaker’s upper, while light blue suede lands at the profile 3-Stripes. Trefoil logos follow suit, as do the inner lining and collar panels.
Underfoot, the Adidas Forum Cheap further nods to its debut year, boasting a slightly-yellowed sole unit that also taps into the growing consumer interest in “Neo-vintage” footwear.
Hairy suedes are among the collaboration’s most standout features. Adidas Forum Men in black, the material adds a vintage feel to the toe and counter, its distressing directly contrasted by the smooth leathers immediately adjacent. A cream tone is then sandwiched between both the lateral and medial, while darker gum bottoms outfit underfoot. Finally, red accents round out the palette at certain points, leading the eye from the Three Stripes to the heel and then finally to the Midwest Kids insignia.
adidas was lucky to recruit Melting Sadness, a Chinese imprint whose mainline ingenuity has transitioned rather well to the footwear brand’s line-up of classics. And here, with their
upcoming Adidas Forum Women Exhibit Low, the two are drawing inspiration from yet another furry creature, this time man’s best friend.
